EL PASEO A PIE MÁS POPULAR EN VENECIA

Walking from Piazzale Roma to St.Mark's square (via Accademia)

This is the itinerary from the Piazzale Rome (Car terminal - Bus Station) to St.Mark's square passing trought the Accademia Bridge.
The names in italics indicate the streets shown in our maps that are also universally known to the inhabitants who you can also ask for help.
The numbers in brackets refer to the photos found on the way.

Once you are at Piazzale Roma cross Ponte Papadopoli (1) which is on the opposite the large white building of the comunal car park.
Once you have crossed the long steps of this modern bridge, go straight on, go past the Papadopoli Gardens and then below a double arcade (2) that leads to the next bridge. Once you have crossed this turn right (3) (if you turn left you follow the route Rialto-S.Marco).

Walk along the Fondamenta dei Tolentini, follow the canal turning left (4) in to Fondamenta Minotto and then continue straight on for the Salizada S.Pantalon (5) and half of Calle Vinanti.
Before you reach the wooden bridge turn right (6) into Campiello Mosca and cross one more bridge, bringing you to Campo S.Pantalon (7).
Cross the other canal and you find yourself in Campo S.Margherita (8).

You have to cross the whole square diagonally and once you get to the end (keeping the isolated house block to your right) you turn left and then right into Rio terà canal (9).
You across Ponte dei pugni and after walking along a short stretch of Fondamenta you will find yourselves in Campo S.Barnaba (10) (famous thanks to an Indiana Jones film).

Now go under the Sotoportego del casin dei nobili (The aristocrats' brothel -the name itself says it all!), go straight on until you reach the Fondamenta della toletta, where you have to turn left (11) and after crossing a bridge you continue along a stretch of Fondamenta Priuli (12) on the left and Calli Corfù and Gambara, bringing you to Campo della Carità, also known as Accademia (13).

You have to cross the great ponte dell'Accademia and go across Campo and Campiello S.Vidal, bringing you to Campo S.Stefano (or Francesco Morosini) (14) at the end of which you can see the homonymous church.
Now, before you reach the church, you have to turn into a narrow street (Calle del spezier) which is approximately half way down the longer right-hand side of the square, roughly opposite the statue of Nicolò Tommaseo (called the "cagalibri" due to the position of the tomes).

You now continue in an "almost" straight line along Calle del piovan, Campo S.Maurizio, Calle Zaguri, a bridge, Campiello della feltrina (15), another bridge, and Campo S.Maria del Giglio (or S.Maria Zobenigo) with the homonymous church on the left.
Now follow Calle and Ponte delle ostreghe (16) (from here you can see the remains of the Teatro La Fenice on the left) and then the large street Via 22 marzo.
If you look ahead you can already see the church of S.Moisé (17) which you leave behind you on your right while continuing along the homonymous Salizada.

You will now find yourself in the Bocca di Piazza and when you walk under the porticos of the Ala Napoleonica you will finally have reached St.Mark's Square (18).
